This Dispatches episode is a behind-the-scenes peer into a murky world of Coke who are having a tough time of it at the minute. Thomas investigates the way in which Coca-Cola operate. He travels to South America, India and the US and finds evidence which complete goes against Coca-Cola’s image as a force for good. Such is the ill feeling toward the company, that a huge backlash from consumers has risen around the globe. How bad is it? Well, Thomas says “As if the company didn’t have enough on its plate, along came intriguing scenes at War on Want’s annual general meeting on 25 February. The charity’s council had decided to support the call for a boycott of Coca-Cola in protest at the killing by paramilitaries of workers at Coke bottling plants in Colombia…”. Then there’s the wage cuts, strikes and unfair working conditions.
