St Helens middleweight Martin Murray enters his WBC World title challenge to Sergio Gabriel Martinez on Saturday as one of the biggest underdogs in British ring history. Though undefeated in 26 contests himself (one draw) and a one-time tenant of the British, Commonwealth and WBA 'interim' belts, the 30 year old six footer is not only forced to travel roughly 7000 miles to the champion's hostile home court, he will be confronting a ring master who has met with defeat just once –by controversial majority decision – in the last 13 years.
